NEP Framework

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s vision, which promotes flexibility, interdisciplinarity, skill development, and holistic learning, Delhi University has actively implemented the guidelines outlined in the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022. This learner-centric framework integrates research, innovation, vocational exposure, internships, and community engagement with traditional academic learning. The framework introduces a comprehensive academic structure that includes Discipline-Specific Core courses (DSCs), Discipline-Specific Electives (DSEs), Generic Electives (GEs), Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs), Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs), and Value Addition Courses (VACs), alongside opportunities for internships, apprenticeship, projects or community outreach (IAPC).

At Indraprastha College for Women, the adoption of NEP-2020 and UGCF-2022 reflects a greater commitment to offering diverse academic choices, experiential learning opportunities, and exposure to both Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and contemporary global perspectives, thereby nurturing well-rounded individuals prepared for the demands of the 21st century.

An integral component of the framework is the introduction of the four-year undergraduate programme, which incorporates multiple entry and exit options to enhance academic flexibility. Under this structure, students enrolled in single-core programmes are awarded either an ‘Honours with Research’ or ‘Honours with Entrepreneurship’ degree upon successful completion of the fourth year, depending on their designated pathway. Multi-core programme students pursuing B.A. (Programme) or B.Sc. (Programme) courses are also eligible to receive an ‘Honours degree’ after completing the fourth year.

The fourth year promotes their academic engagement through engaging coursework, research projects, dissertations, internships, and overall skill-based learning. Thus, facilitating disciplinary knowledge, research exposure, and skill development. By embracing this progressive framework, Indraprastha College for Women seeks to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and leadership skills, ensuring that the students emerge not only as scholars in their chosen fields but also as confident, socially responsible leaders prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
