Institutions, experiences and people shape each other in ways more than one. Each individual has a unique and subtle contribution to the person and place they interact with. As IPCW culminates its Centenary year, the institution is humbled by the contributions of women who studied here and gave to the world a remarkable persona characterised by poise, passion and perseverance.
From the first glider pilot Raj Mitroo to Arjuna Awardee Anju Jain, from Qurratulain Haider to Sucheta Kripalani, Indraprastha College for Women has been nurtured by the aspirations and actions of women who became firsts in their karmabhoomi. Be it the delicacy in the voice of Sarla Maheshwari reading the news on Doordarshan, or the inspirational journey of the sisters Kanchan and Kavita Chaudhary, the former becoming an IPS officer and the latter playing the role of an IPS officer famous television serial Udaan, women of IPCW embody the resilient feminine spirit which transforms and shapes itself as a force to reckon with.
Like the breath which goes in and out of the human body, the moments and movements of our stellar alumna sustain the soul of IPCW. The world whirls around inspiration, hope and progress. Each generation which passes by the trees and walls of IPCW must know that the past lives through them and they too will add to the campus chronicles. When a bright-eyed first year student listens to an alumna who is either a bureaucrat, or a scientist or the professor standing right before their eyes in the classroom, she must dream and know that in both herself and them all, there is the continuum of ‘Truth-Love-Knowledge-Service’ which constitutes the spirit of IPCW.
As we enter our 101st year, it is a time to strengthen the bonds which sustain the buildings at IPCW. From music to politics, from writing to sports, the IPCW alumna stands strong. We hope that our alumna continue to visit us and inspire us with their achievements, even as we continue to learn and imbibe the perseverance and persistence with which the IPCW alumna has grown across time and space.
