Culture as a concept and practice attracts academic attention from a wide variety of disciplines. As a field of research, it opens up avenues for academicians, artists, administrators and archival researchers alike. In the Indian University system, disciplines as diverse as Anthropology, Language and Literary Studies compete to define culture as an arena of research and teaching. In the process they contribute to the expansion of its scope.

Academic moorings apart, culture assumes significance for 21st century India as the global society now recognizes that we have an inert human value to offer. With a rich rapporteur of Indian knowledge system and heritage, we attempt to infuse a new understanding of culture.
